KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA CISF BHILAI SOME INNOVATIVE PRACTICES TO MAKE TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS AS PER NEP 2020 A) NEP 2020 aims to empower the students by Conceptual Understanding rather than rote learning- With the closure of schools in 2020 due to COVID-19 the students were away from school. The studies were started in online mode in all subjects especially science. Hands on practice in laboratories were not possible even through o-labs. So I brought in the concept of home laboratories where students would do small experiments at home and develop scientific spirit and steps involved in scientific enquiry. This would help to understand the concepts( experiential learning) and involve critical thinking . Vigyan Pratibha learning unit On From Milk to Curd-A Journey were converted into investigatory projects and students of Class XI in the session 2020 -21 and 2021-22 conducted experiments in their home laboratory as per the allocated topic. Observations were done and pictures were clicked. WELL SET CURD IN ALL BOWLS AFTER 12 HOURS Simple leaf circle experiments related to photosynthesis were also conducted in home laboratories as investigatory projects. In session 2021-22, students are studying the life cycle of fruit flies by culturing them in home laboratories. They are learning that experiments are not successful in one attempt. Repeatedly the experiments are to be done after eliminating the factors which led to failure of the experiment the previous time. B) NEP 2020 emphasizes on learning beyond the text books- With the same aim the digital herbarium was made for all the herbal plants in the vidyalaya campus. Later the QR codes were made and attached with the herbal plants so that everyone visiting the school campus would instantly use their smart phones and know about the common name, scientific name , medicinal value, economic importance of the plants. Now students and visitors learn about herbal plants by being close to nature. C) Another approach as per NEP 2020 is Promoting Sport-integrated & Art-Integrated Learning in Classroom for Holistic Development- Class XII Biology has a chapter- Principles and Processes of Biotechnology where formation of recombinant DNA was taught through craft activity. This made all the students learn how r-DNA is made in laboratories. D) Interactive learning and learning while playing was introduced by preparing a snakes and ladder game.
